May (Mae) Konen (1885–1942; later Mrs. George Archibald, then Mrs. Lackey; 1907 Sagebrushers traveler)
Also known as: Mae M. Konen, May Konen, Mrs. George Archibald, Mae Archibald, Mae Konen Lackey
family confidence: 0 — not family / context
Party member #8 on the 1907 diary, paired with George Archibald, whom she married in Butte on 4 Jan 1910 (GEDCOM, from the Montana county marriage record; 0.85). Daughter, not sister, of John F. Konen (1859-1937; a retired blacksmith at death) and Margaret "Maggie" Wallenhurst Konen (1862-1916) of 544 Nevada Avenue, Butte: the "Mrs. Konen" who gave the party its send-off lunch on 25 July is Margaret, and Westfall's nameless 1907 address "544 Nevada" is the Konen house (the Anaconda Standard of 25 Jun 1899, p. 16, puts May and Mrs. Konen there). Siblings: Bertha L. (1884-1946; m. William Emory Thirloway, very probably the diary's Thoroways), Harvey (1887-1948) and John W. (1889-1935); the earlier note of a brother "John F." was wrong. Promoted from the Central School to Butte High School in Feb 1900; clerk at Hennessy's in 1907 (Westfall, unverified). Later Mrs. Lackey (first name and date unknown); died Salt Lake City 4 May 1942; buried Mount Moriah Cemetery, Butte. Not the Finnish "-konen" names (Lukkonen) in 1917 Butte papers. Identification 0.9. Research: research/docs/sagebrushers-companions-2026-09-28/may-konen.md
