Sons John (b. 02/12/1891) and Patrick (b. 05/04/1895) were among the crew of a seine-fishing boat that died in the 1918 Kilcatherine fishing tragedy (= the 1918-12-10 Butte Miner / Anaconda Standard archive clipping). Both were members of the Ballycrovane Company, 5th Battalion, Cork 5th Brigade IRA. Their brother Daniel (Dan) was also an IRA member (received medals + military pension; died 1970s). Each fact shows how sure the archive is of it (0–100) and the sources it rests on.

Birth:
~1869, Ballycrovane 252026-05-11 — Email correspondence — Oliver Murphy (Beara-side researcher) to Luke Murphy (user); undated — Riobárd Ó Dwyer, "Who Were My Ancestors? Annals of Beara," Volume II (Norelene O'Dwyer's printed copy; a different setting from the repository's screenshot copy); 2026-05-27 — Luke Murphy family tree (Ancestry.com)Confidence 25 is for the record's year (~1869), which comes from the 1901 census age of 32 as Oliver reports it. The same return gives his wife 25 (born c. 1876), which would make her a bride of 14 with a first child at 15, so the couple's 1901 ages look understated. The 1926 census (Oliver) gives him 72 (born c. 1853-54), and the Annals list him fourth of Seamus Mor's six children, after Paddy (Apr 1850) and John and before Kate and Michael (May 1864). The place alone is 75: the Annals' home farm at Ballycrovane and the tree's birthplace (the tree cites only another member's Ancestry tree).
