John Murphy (Ballycrovane, 1891–1918; drowned off Pointe Ranna; James's first cousin)

Also known as: John Murphy (b. 02/12/1891)

family confidence: 95 — certain (corroborated)Murphy (paternal descendant, cousin line)

Son of Jim Murphy and Julia O'Sullivan (Seer), Ballycrovane (Annals of Beara II, section C, child 2; Oliver Murphy's email of 11 May 2026; the family tree, @I322417057151@). Drowned with his brother Patie and three other men off Pointe Ranna, Kilcatherine, on 12 Nov 1918. The Butte Independent of 14 Dec 1918, p. 1, called the two brothers 'cousins to James Murphy of the Hennessy store' (filed 4 Oct 2026: 1918-12-14_butte-independent_eyeries-drowning-murphy-brothers-cousins). The Butte dailies of 10 Dec 1918 named the victims wrongly as 'Robert and Richard Dwyer' (see person_robert_dwyer_kilcatherine_1918). He is James's first cousin only if Patrick was Seamus Mór's son: Luke's decision of 3 Oct 2026 (95). Record created 4 Oct 2026 on Luke's instruction ('add the drowned cousins').
