Mary O'Leary (named as Patrick's mother in the Annals and the family tree; flagged as probably an error)
family confidence: 10 — flagOther paternal in-law
**FLAGGED 2026-10-03 (user decision): unlikely to be Patrick Murphy's mother.** Riobard O'Dwyer's Annals of Beara give Patrick's parents as "James Murphy and Mary O'Leary, Eyeries Village" (II p. 271; also the p. 29 Ardgroom Village entry), and the family tree followed them, entering her as born about 1835 at Eyeries, wife of James Murphy and mother of Patrick, Catherine, Margaret and Mary. The user's judgement is that Riobard was wrong here. Patrick is shown as the son of Seamus Mór Murphy and Peig Uonhi (Harrington) of Ballycrovane. Why: the 1850 baptism of Patrick names the mother "Margarita Uonhi", the 1864 baptism of Michael names "Margaret Harrington", and the Eyeries parish office reports "James Harrington" in the 1881 marriage register; no record yet found names an O'Leary. The tree's own data on her do not hold together: born "about 1835" but married 18 July 1842 at Inchigeelagh. Confidence that she was Patrick's mother: about 10. Kept, not deleted, in case she proves to be a second wife of James (Margaret, born about 1867-73, is not among the six children the Annals give Seamus Mór and Peig) or the wife of a different James Murphy of Eyeries (a marriage of James Murphy and Mary Leary on 30 Jan 1834 has been described but not seen).

Marriage
- claimed wife of Seamus Mór (Big James) Murphy — PJM's father, of Ballycrovane Beara15Luke's flag (3 Oct 2026) puts her at 10 overall. Analyst 15 for this edge: a second marriage of Seamus Mor after Peig's last known child (1864) would explain both Margaret (b. 1866-73) and Riobard's 'Mary O'Leary'; nothing records one. · undated — Riobárd Ó Dwyer, "Who Were My Ancestors?
