Kept apart from person_james_m_mccarthy_centennial_brewing (the Centennial Brewing secretary who received the 1918 Ballycrovane letter) under the two-records rule; NOT merged. They may be the same man (65): two of the three 1918 reports print the brewer 'James J. McCarthy', the brewery's manager in 1917 was John J. O'Meara, a Division 1 man and former state president, and the Butte Independent of 31 Dec 1910 has a 'James J. McCarthy' on the Robert Emmet ball's reception committee (research notes). What would settle it: a Butte city directory entry 'McCarthy James J, sec Centennial Brewing Co'. The RELA camp key's No. 224 'J. J. McCarthy' (Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives papers and Butte Independent OCR snippets, read in Sept 2026; research notes, not filed sources) could be either. Printed apart from John J. McCarthy in the same 1915 list (person_john_j_mccarthy_butte_aoh) and distinct from T. J. McCarthy. The 1904 Division 1 alternate is printed 'James . McCarthy' (initial dropped; 60, not linked); bare 'J. J. McCarthy' entries (1910, 1911, 1912, 1920-08-01) are not linked.
