John C. Murphy (Butte Gaelic League president; AOH Division 1 recording secretary, 1913)

Also known as: J. C. Murphy, JOHN C. MURPHY

family confidence: 0 — not family / context

A different man from James J. Murphy: both are printed in the same lists (12 Mar 1912 Gregson banquet: 'James Murphy', 'James J. Murphy' and 'John C. Murphy'; the 1916-17 relief committee: 'James J. Murphy' and 'John C. Murphy'). Do not give James the offices of RELA No. 23. The Butte Independent (not filed) gives the Gaelic League president of 1910-11 as John ('Jack') Murphy and reports John C. Murphy re-elected president of the Irish Volunteers' fife and drum corps in January 1914 (Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives papers and Butte Independent OCR snippets, read in Sept 2026; research notes, not filed sources). Distinct from John R. Murphy (Division 1 vice president in the same 1913 slate), John D. Murphy (Anaconda, 1922), the bare 'John Murphy' (guard and singer 1910; arrangements, Dec 1910; possibly him, not linked) and the John C. Murphy on a 1904 Democratic slate (not linked).
