W. P. McCarthy (W. P. McCarty), president of AOH Division No. 3, Butte
Also known as: W. P. McCarty, W. P. M'CARTY, W. P. McCarthy
family confidence: 0 — not family / context
Merge, 95: the Anaconda Standard of 9 Jan 1913 prints 'Division 3—President, W. P. McCarthy' and the same paper of 2 Dec 1914 'W. P. M'CARTY, President Division 3, A. O. H.' (image; the curated transcription's 'Division 2' is a misreading); two weeks after the 1913 installation 'W. P. McCarty' gave a recitation at Division 3's own social; the county board's minute book writes 'W. P. McCarthy' in the alternate's slot where the Butte Daily Post of 29 Aug 1912 prints 'W. P. McCarty' (Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives papers and Butte Independent OCR snippets, read in Sept 2026; research notes, not filed sources). The Butte Independent of 20 Mar 1915 (OCR snippet, not filed) calls him 'president of Division No. 1', which conflicts with the two Standard reports. Distinct from T. J. McCarthy (person_t_j_mccarthy_butte_aoh), James J. McCarthy, John J. McCarthy, Morty, P. H. and Tim D. McCarthy.
