method: the PDF holds one RGB JPEG of 2121 x 2919 px (nominal 72 ppi) with two blank masks; it was extracted at native resolution, because rasterising the PDF at 300 dpi would only enlarge the same pixels. The five columns were located from the column rules and cut into overlapping bands of about 420 x 400 px, upscaled 4.4x (LANCZOS) with a contrast stretch. Every doubtful word, numeral and date was re-cut at 8x to 18x, and doubtful digits were compared glyph by glyph with known digits of the same type face (for example the second digit of the Kenmare session day against the 4s and 9s of the entry numbers). The target, the Kenmare list, was read entry by entry from the bands and again from the zooms. The type is worn and the page has black speckle, ink strokes and a vertical crease, so many letters are damaged; only readings that stay in doubt after the zooms are marked. Line-end hyphens are rejoined; hyphens inside compounds are kept. Mixed italic and roman type inside entries is not reproduced.
